A bit about me
Being born on the WestCoast (Dobson Greymouth) came with a sense of freedom. Our family consisted of 8 living children, myself being the second youngest. We always had someone to hang out with as our little town was full of mining families. Most of our time was spent outdoors exploring and using our imaginations, we followed the big kids and nothing seemed to be out of bounds. We didn’t have bought toys
1: Because we didn’t have the money
2: We didn’t need them, we had Outside and created our own.
All about my Art
My Art practice works the same way, whereas I explore ideas without limitations and am open to challenges that may present themselves. It all started with the love of paper/books, ’nothing goes to waste’ is my mantra.
When I first moved to Christchurch (late 30’s) after having lived in small towns my mind was blown when I saw Billboard Posters plastered over fences and walls.
I loved everything about them, these became my source of materials for my initial Art pieces
Nowadays I combine paper with other materials eg; paint, pencil, markers etc
My Resin work developed after the Christchurch Earthquakes, I found it healing to create something peaceful and beautiful with my own photo’s after being surrounded by destruction and chaos. Today my work is more playful and has a connection to not only my surroundings but events and people.
Telling my own story in my own way
